ARTIST BIO

Shelley Voigt was born in Frankston, Victoria in 1968 and has been an artist for nearly 25 years. She has been a member of the Peninsula Art Society and the McClelland Guild of Artists and studied under local artists such as Glenn Hoyle, Catherine Hamilton and the late Jean Cowan. Largely self-taught, Shelley was also influenced by her mother Jean Voigt, who was a keen artist and a life member of Peninsula Art Society.

Shelley has just returned from a five-month painting sabbatical in Indonesia where she was privileged to be tutored by Dutch artist Noella Roos, daughter of the famous sculptor Eddy Roos. This experience has greatly influenced the space and freedom of Shelley's work. It has also led her to reconsider the European greats including the Post Impressionists and current artists such as Sam Drukker.

Now settled back at her studio in South Frankston, Shelley is incorporating her recent experiences into her painting and is also pursuing other artistic outlets, including sculpture and jewellery making.
